Just Handed This In For My First Class Assignment

I believe what's important here, is that you understand the photo is good but has some errors. That's what everybody is trying to say, basically. It's great you got an A because it makes you feel proud of yourself, but don't forget there's a lot of room for improvement in that photo. Try to see the errors, and think about that the next time your shooting pictures...

Delivery is what I was emphasizing on. Some people think that coming out and saying "Oh well this picture sucks" is another way of saying "This picture needs work, here's what you can do." I didn't expect blind praise. I've been here long enough that At-A-Boys are non existent, because everyone here is a art museum curator. I was just sharing a picture, with out describing the assignment in detail, and was expecting some tips. Not a disagreement in the grade.

I'm actually the janitor of the art museum -_-

Introductory course or not; if your instructor gave you an 'A' for that, and didn't discuss any of the issues with you so that you could improve, what is the point? As a first image, it's not bad, but any intelligent person knows that the first time they do anything, it's probably not going to be perfect...

Explain why you thought that this shot was suitable for a calendar.

By posting in Beginners you have to accept that people are going to disagree and forward their own critical thoughts on your photography; that is part of the intent of the subsection itself. Furthermore its important to understand that many here are setting a highbar standard - that can be hard to reach; in fact it can be darn tricky to get to; however when you associate with your superiors within a field you have to expect that they'll set that high bar. Not out of spite or malice, but because you don't reach the highbar by always clearing the lowbar.

So yes some wind is taken out of your sails - and that in itself is an important move; you've got to learn fast to be your own critic - to be able to step back from what you've taken and whilst being proud of your work; also be able to critically cut it to bits and to have others do likewise.

I am so sick of people jumping to this conclusion, and over dramatic reaction.

Not one ****ing person told you that this photo "sucks".

I am tired of people asking for these narrow and strict standards for how critique should be given.

If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen.

You want candy coating? Go buy some ****ing M&M's.

You've been here long enough to know how it goes, and what to expect.

Sheesh!

I would have given it two gold stars and a smiley face. Feel better?.... p!nK

What a hot mess!! LOL I want your help but please don't say I'm doing anything wrong.......
You'll get the best FREE education here if you just listen.

Let's clear a few things up. I never asked for a critique or a comment. I never asked what grade I deserve. I never clarified what the grading criteria was, and I never said anyone said that they said it sucks. But since you are so caught up in semantics. I was told I deserved a C. HOW THE F*CK IS THAT CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM BITTER? See? I can use caps too. I paraphrase useless comments and you get your panties in a little bunch.

I see this:

You were robbed. If this was a college class then its worse since you paid for that disinterest.

I would have given you about C

Forgive me for taking this out of context. Obviously these comments are constructive and beneficial to learning. Even if provided along side something that I can use, it's still unnecessary crap.

Another thing, This class is the first class which is apart of a 2 year program. It's literally baby steps. This assignment was basically how to properly use metering and it was apart of a lesson which taught students how to literally take a picture. I am not offended that you people think it's a poor picture. I don't think any of my pictures are decent enough to even post, all I did was address the fact that there are unnecessary comments and I got dog piled with ' OMG LOOSEN UP? HOW ARE YOU EVER GOING TO GET BETTER OMG!' Like it really matters to you people. So yes... LOOSEN UP! If you want to say it's garbage... fine... but don't piss on me and call it rain. You are all in a blind rage over the fact that I resisted the "You deserve a C" comment. Take it easy people. It's not that serious.

Nothing like twisting a situation into something completely different. Such is the way of the woman.

I get a FREE education at my college via the Gi Bill.

You're yelling at people who are trying to help you. As somebody else up there said, this site is basically free education. If you did not post this for C&C, why post it? Tbh its kind of a boring picture, and with that being said nobody wants to see it for any other purpose than C&C.

I think you need to

Who am I yelling at? Look at the chain of events. It wasn't like i got but hurt over the fact that no one likes the picture. Why did I post the picture? Because I was proud of the A. Not the picture. I expected critiques, I didn't say no one could. But why is it that people are allowed to say whatever they feel like it with out consequence?

I asked simply why cutting off a toe detracts from it, and admit that I have seen that people complain about it. But instead of an answer, I get a lecture. It's a one way street.

I never asked for a critique or a comment

As I stated in my post above (which outlines my general views on this and I won't repeat myself again), by posting in the Beginners section you did ask for critique since that is part of the aim of this subsection. If you wanted to post without the chance of getting critique then we have the "Just for fun" gallery; otherwise the Beginners section and all the other gallery subsections are all open to your photo being critiqued by viewers.
