Katzeye closing down

Bummer, I was hopeing to get one of these focusing screens in the future. Guess it won't happen now..

I suppose it was always going to be a dwindling market for them. People forget fast and AF is very good these days and even getting lots of those "facial detection" tricks. The casual user moved further and further from the old split-screen days to the point where they don't care and even the amateur and enthusiast was losing ground on why they'd need such screens.

It's a very niche market product and I'd expect someone else will fill the void in time potentially; but it will be very small scale

No. But I'd like to get a couple for my D600s. I have the KatzEye in my D7100.

Focusing screens are apparently insufficient now for modern optics like the Zeiss Otus anyway.

Or at least Ming Thein uses lifeview with the Zacuto 2.5x Pro cine-finder instead.
