LightSpeed, did you not ask in your heading to "rip it up"? You need to chill a bit until your skin thickens. Just sayin.

Agreed.

I understand that you were proud of the fact that you achieved to take the shot without scaring the bird but in the end the shot isn't special at all. This is what you get when you ask to 'rip it up'

i'm new here. and haven't posted a photo yet..

however... note to self... never post a photo and ask for it to be ripped up !! especially if it's not perfect.

What for the bird looking the wrong way

For that, the bird blending in with the background, the poor composition, etc. It's clearly all the work of Flickr.

Next time I'll shoot him and put him where I want. I guess it's time to give up on wildlife.
I'll stick to Ferris wheels and clothes thrown all over the place.

UNLESS.............hmm....wait. I know. Next time I'll move in on him....cunningly sneak in...and put a backdrop behind him.
And then set him on a perch. If he doesn't fly away first.
Wait a minute.......OR I could try the other approach. I could just walk up to him, introduce myself, and then step back and fire a few shots.

I don't shoot wildlife because i am not patient, i have friends that will go out all day and not even get a good shot and they still say they had a great day but when things go right the results are fantastic but both of thenm have the Nikon 200-400F4

He like to have a bit of fun, we have been ripping each other up for a few weeks, i think he can take it

I've yet to see anyone post a "perfect" shot anywhere ;)
Some people get very very very close - but photographers are always hunting for the next even more perfect shot ;)

What in the HELL are you talking about?
Am I supposed to answer that?

My skin is fine. I must admit that I find it amusing that a bird in the wild, in its NATURAL surroundings, on the edge of a cypress lake , in the Atchafalaya Basin, is looking the wrong way
and then compared to your typical, city, driveway shot. Which appears to be a wounded bird, perhaps taken down by a pellet gun , for the photo session. And the colors are bad and its out of focus.
And the exposure is wrong. And It looks like a snapshot.

Yes I'm afraid it's true, my skin is fine.
Do some of you really believe that I get mad about any of this?

Ok I'll admit it. I don't like Tyler. I never have. I have never met Tyler and for all I know Tyler might be a decent person, in person.
Where he has no choice.

That being said, and established that Tyler could very well be a decent person, doesn't matter.
I still don't like him.
Does this mean that I hate him? Or want to harm him? Pause.

I tried to fight the urge to say this , but, Yes.
Does this mean I'm going to harm him? No. Unless I run into him in the grocery store.........church.......or any other place.
Now I know some of you are quite fond of Tyler and find him to be one of the worlds most interesting men. Quite frankly, I don't.
This doesn't mean that I am going to hunt him down and make it a point to do him bodily harm. With Christmas coming soon, I just can't afford it right now.
Then after the 1st of the year I'm traveling Montana for a few months...........so Tyler has to be put on the back burner for a while ( the same place he's been put by society most of his life). As painful as that may be.

Could Tyler and I ever possibly become friends?
Have you ever been hit by a comet or small meteorite?
What about struck by lightening?

So what's the moral of the story?
I don't like Tyler.

lol

Nice, you managed to get a centered composition where the subject blends into the background and is looking away from the camera.

I managed to finish typing that sentence before I yawned!

While I agree that lightspeed could chill a bit, this post just takes the cake. He said rip it up, not be a complete ass. You could have said the exact same thing a little kinder. But of course, that wouldn't be as fun would it? Its only entertaining if you can stir the pot and be completely ignorant

So what's the moral of the story?

That you should probably put Tyler on your ignore list if the pair of you can't come to some kind of resolution in private messages - as opposed to filling forum threads with small snarky comments at each other.

Yep, that's true.

Nobody bickers back and forth like Me and Gary.
Except me and Tyler.
And me and a few other people. lol

but.... does he drink Dos Equis?

But I have already come to a resolution. Didn't you read my post? But alas, I will refrain from making snarky remarks towards Tyler.
Though , I won't mind if Tyler continues to make snarky remarks toward me. I will be the bigger man in this. More than likely the ONLY man in this............and I will just tolerate him rather than ignore him.
Kind of like a mother-in-law that comes to visit for a week and stays 6 months.

I'm having fun with this. Don't kill it for me!
I'm appealing to your sense of sportsmanship.

My sense of sportsmanship went into hibernation when winter stared ;)
