Kite skating - is this a thing?

On the other side of the bay, there were a few kite surfers crazy enough to brave the frigid Boston waters on Sunday since the air temp was in the upper 50's (I'm sure the water was in the 30's)...but this guy was smarter - he had the surfing kite but instead of surfing he had on these huge roller blades and was on the hard sand of the beach at low tide. He had some moves and was jumping and twirling all around. Is this a thing? I've never seen anyone doing this before.

Yeah, it's a thing. A couple of my mates have them too and go kite boarding
