Kite's Delight

[bulldurham34]

Witnessed something awesome, though a tad on the cruel side...and that's nature at its best and worst. This post is not for the squeamish.

This Swallowtail Kite was circling overhead when it swooped down on a Mockingbird, only it wasn't going for the bird but its nest, unfortunately on the other side of the tree. When he flew back out, I could see something in his claws but wasn't sure until I got back to the computer what he had...dastardly beast got one of the babies in the nest and then proceeded to eat it on the fly.

These photographs are simply amazing Chris, mother nature can be cruel for sure!

Wow, super cool! I am jealous we don't have kites here..

Wow. Awesome job. Yes nature is cruel, but not as cruel as a lot of people

Nice set of pictures Chris. Kudos for documenting the raptor and the sequence of it's flight so well.
