Just finished drying my film from the weekend, these few are my fav's. all except the last one are at Bay Du Dor, this bay looks out over the Bruce Nuclear Station but it was a plain sky and muggy/foggy so it was pretty blah to get it in the shots. The last is the lighthouse at Southampton in the distance.

I'd love to list the camera/lens I was using but alas I will have to ask Timor again, I do know I was using an orange filter though! lol

Excellent - and if you had any strips where you didn't use it, you'd be able to do a side by side comparison to help you appreciate what the filter gave you. I knew a guy who would never even consider shooting B&W without at least a yellow filter around. Looks like you did a good job with the development, too - I'm impressed with all your detail, especially your shadow detail. Good job!!

OK, relieve, I was afraid this film got mixed up with my stuff, but you've got it. How you can see, we were out of luck, too much blue light in the sky even for orange filter to stop it. But that's luck, otherwise good job, nice pics.
Terri, Judy was using Minolta XG-M with 20 mm lens and sekonic 758. She was exposing Eastman Double X Negative at ISO 160 which she developed in HC110 in special, (secret :mrgreen

process to get this shadows and highlights right. Without need of burning and dodging. Plus with orange filter we hoped for much darker sky.
Plus Terri, please move this thread to normal b&w gallery. Shooting b&w film is hardly alternative technique of photography.

I liked to shoot orange filter B&W on occasion, but usually went "safe" and used yellow mostly. I think I have been by that lighthouse, if that is the one at the mouth of the Saugeen River. These have a sort of odd, wistfull, kind of lonesome feeling to them. It's difficult to describe why (me>>at a loss for words?). But yeah, these feel desolate in some inexplicable way.

My fave is the lighthouse, with the woman, the power line, and the small boat offshore, just to the right of the jetty. Here is why it's my favorite shot of these: I like the way the close-in beach is a big,big part of the shot, but then it gives way to the middle ground in a very natural way. The woman's body posture and walking stride are INSTANTLY recognizable due to the way her head is looking...she really adds a lot, and the power line and the pole realllly pull the eye out to her, then the jetty leads right to the lighthouse, and then BOOM! there's a boat out there, fishing. And the horizon shows uncorrected wide-angle lens distortion, which sort of adds to the whole "film" aesthetic. The bright, summer weather feel really comes though. My eye just goes around in a circle, over and over, with fabulous "eye flow", and I mean fabulous eye flow.

I just didn't want Judi to think I was being nitpicky. Maybe you know some real alt-process stuff that you can show her, so she can use the Alt forum for its intended purpose, eh?

Thanks Terri (and thanks for the move, I'm so bad for putting things in the wrong place which is why I put a LOT in the general gallery lol) I had a wonderful time with Timor on the weekend, also having him develop a film here was great, he got an idea what my water is like and adjusted my times a bit to compensate for it being well water and this is the result!

Thanks T, yep I had this one and it looks like I have both the dxn that I wasn't sure was exposed and the film I loaded and didn't use so not sure what one you have ...
Next time we better do a rain dance or something to get some clouds in the sky for us!

D, thank you for your thoughts on that one! I really like it also but couldn't verbalize why.
