Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
My cousin showed some interest in one of my photos and I would like to have it blown up and framed as a Christmas present. Obviously I don't want to spend a ton of money.

Where do I even start?
Thanks!
:blushing:

How large are we talking?

Mpix does good work, though sometimes they mess up... If they do, they'll fix it for free.

I'm not even sure about that...
I have an in in the framing business so price isn't an issue with that.

How big can I realistically print a vertical page with my Rebel XS? I obviously don't want pixelated junk, but bigger than I can print at home.

I have a friend who used to work in the photo world recommend 11x14.

Well... To start with, how large in the photo (megapickels)...

Questions I would ask myself... What size do I want this print to be? The megapickel rating of your camera will help determine the maximum size you should look at.

If you want 8x10 pretty much any of the newer digital cam's out there will give you a good output.

I have printed 20x30 from a 350D (8MP) and they looked fine. That's the largest I've done though - not sure how it would look bigger than that.

Anything that size or smaller, you'll probably be fine.

you can also try genuine fractals from onone software, it will do amazing blow ups and i believe they have a trial period for testing.

I'm sorry. I'm a newb at printing. Do you mean the camera's megapixels? 'cause I've got a Canon XS which is 10.1 MP.

I don't think you do so I'll post this too...:D

Image size is:
2394 x 3444
7.88 MB.

I print most of my small prints (4x6 5x7) at Snapfish. It's cheap and quality is pretty good. I have also printed a couple 16x20 from a 6MP point and shoot. They lose a little quality that large, but overall I think they look pretty darn good.

You should easily be able to get something that large with your camera and for less than $15

I sure hope its dill and not bread and butter.....

You should be able to blow up a 10MP XS picture fairly well. What editing software are you using? Genuine Fractals is a very decent program to use if you want to sort of push the limits to the larger end of the spectrum. Especially if you can find it with a free trial. Keep in mind also that any inperfections in the photos are going to show up a lot more if you enlarge it significantly. ( like soft focus, ISO noise etc. )

You don't need to interpolate the image larger with software.

At 100 ppi that could be printed 23.94 inches by 34.44 inches.
(2394 px / 100 px/in = 23.94")

At 150 ppi it could be printed 15.96" x 22.96" (2394 / 150 = 15.96")

At 200 ppi it could be printed 11.97" x 17.22" (2394 / 200 = 11.97")

And so on and so forth, just do the math.
