I am very fortunate in that this plant - a Lantana- attracts them essentially all day every day. It gets sun all day but mornings and afternoons make the best lighting, this shot was taken in the morning.

Since I have so many opportunities to get shots, I have the luxury of being very picky. This is different from when I lived in NY and you had a limited time to get your annual hummingbird shots and kinda got what you got.

It gets better, other than digging a hole, it was free!

The one in the shot was "liberated" from the local jungle and I have trained it to grow around one side an arch that acts as an entrance to a garden that is still a work in progress. Earlier this year, I relocated a small one that was actually growing on my property and am letting it grow unrestricted in the front yard. It is also attracting hummingbirds but I have yet to take any shots.

If you do get one give it lots of space, they get big.
