Lens adapters.

Hello everyone, how is everybody?
I have a question, and even though I believe that I know that the answer (at least the quick answer) is no, I still wanted to ask anyway.
The question: Panasonic makes a Telephoto Lens Model: DMW-LT55, it is a lens adapter for some of their select camera models. There are of course many similar such adapters made by many companies, but can't they work with other cameras, so long as the threads match? I ask because it is that way with lens filters, you don't need to purchase one that is the same make as the camera. I mention the Panasonic one because I am interested in the new Panasonic Lumix FZ1000K 4K, but it only has a zoom of 16X, and I thought that even though it isn't supported on their site, that their might be a lens adapter somewhere that will fit it. Isn't that basically how it works? I mean, if the adapter width is the same size as the lens on the camera, and the threads are the same, then it should work, right?

Telephoto adapters that screw into the filter threads should work with any lens of the right size.
The only one I've tried was really terrible in quality though, cropping the image gave better results (this was when I only had a 6MP DSLR!).
Wide angle variants seem to be more common & much better, I've got several of these and they can all give acceptable results.
With the wide angle versions it doesn't spoil the results to fit a stepping ring between the adapter & the lens, I see no reason why the telephoto versions shouldn't be similar, so that your lens needn't even have the right size filter threads.
