Lens advice for a 7D

Hi all, thinking on shelling out on a 7D and instead of getting the standard 18-55mm lens...(already own one with my wife's 1100D)
I was thinking of getting the body and the EFS 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS

Now I haven't a clue about lenses, I just found a few people on google mentioned that this was a great "walk around" lens...
Just wondered if you guys think the same???

Not really bothered about 'L' glass just want to start building a great lens collection for both cameras. So if anyone could recommend a top:
- Landscape (for huge scenes & architectural )
- Macro (flowers insects )
That would be great!!
