Lens Question

A friend of mine has a co-worker who offered to sell me her 75-300mm 1:4-5.6 and says she bought it strictly for sports photos. Does anyone think this is a decent lens for ice hockey photos?


Also, is $115 a good price?

The thing you have to consider is how fast of a shutter speed you need to freeze the action and minimize the effects of hand shake. F4-5.6 will only be able to provide a fast shutter speed outdoors. Maybe indoors with great lighting and a super fast ISO.

Check around at what used lenses are selling for - $115 seems like a good deal to me since they sell at about $450 new...

what camera are you using it on, what condition is it in, what brand is it, etc.


also, i dont know anything about hockey but if it is indoors, you might have some problems. Thats lens might be too big for what you need to do... anything closer than 5-10 feet (estimate) might not autofocus.
