Here's another often incorrectly spelled word for ya.... aperture or aperature?

And why is it that my spell check underlines lense but not lens?

The very first day of my intro photography class the teacher made up all get up and write "lens" and "aperture" on the board and if we spelled it wrong we automatically failed.

of course it is aperture .. but you often find stray spellings from people who only heard it or saw it on a forum, but never saw it written in print: aperature and aparature

One of the beauty of languages is.... it is dynamic. When only 1% of the English speaking population say lense is a correct word. Sure, it is not a correct word. However, when that percentage increase to a significant number, then I think it may become a correct word. And you will find it in the dictionary.
