Lenses Needed for Hawaii?

My sister is getting married in September and was debating about getting a wide angle lens (mostly for personal use with landscapes). With the lenses I do have, I was wondering if this would be overkill.

I looking into getting the Tokina 11-16f2.8 or the 12-24f4.

Any suggestions would be great!

I was in Hawaii and pretty much had my 11-22 on the entire time. Considering you're using it for landscapes, you don't really need the 2.8. I don't know anything about Nikon lenses but I'm guessing the 2.8 is more expensive.

Well, wedding photos shot with ultra-wide zooms often look pretty crappy. I would virtually almost never use a focal length below 18mm for wedding use, unless it was to get a very wide group shot, and then only for a few frames. A steady diet of wedding images made with an 11- to 22 or 12-24mm would almost surely induce vomiting.

No the lens is mostly for landscapes. My sister would throw me in the volcano if I stretched her with a wide angle. If need be I would use it for the family group shot with everyone squished in the middle.
