Light weight tripod

I came across a Sirui today that caught my interest. It was a model T-005 aluminum model. Searching online they have a T-025 carbon model that holds 12.8 lb and weighs 1.8 lbs with the head! Folds down very small too. Anyone have any experience with these?

I have been researching a lot about tripods as well. Sirui has got a lot of great reviews. however, even with max height, they come to only 53" or something. I would like to extend the top column as little as possible.

Lately, I've been researching the "tripod with inbuilt monopod" combinations. I love the flexibility of having a monopod to walk with while hiking and come home/tent and use the full tripod for shooting the night sky and what not. For that there is the Cullman and the Benro Travel agent. I am leaning toward the Benro travel angel series.

I have the Manfrotto 7322CY, I picked it up in Japan for about $100 but it seems to sell for $2-300 retail.. anyways it's a really good tripod for travel, weighs about 1.5kg and straps onto my small backpack easily so I take it as carry-on. The only problem is the ballhead isn't great, it's a little hard to get it in the right spot... when you tighten it and let go the camera shifts a bit, mostly in portrait layout, landscape isn't too bad. Other than that it's quite sturdy, I find it wobbles a bit with the aluminium centre pole at full extension but I just don't put that all the way up and it's good. It's not super high (maybe 4.5 feet with the centre pole down) but I guess that's the sacrifice with a small tripod?

I've been looking at a better ballhead for it, I think if I got one a bit better it would be a really nice tripod.
