A 500MPixel stitch of the Lincoln Memorial, stitched from 588 images. Shot with the 5D Mark II and 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II lens. Definitely has a good amount of detail, here's zoomed in to 33%:

wow, what a stitch!

would love to see the photo taken just after the sun sets (at blue hour) so you get some nice rich colour in the sky, and hopefully a bit of detail in the foreground

What time did you take this? I walk down there every day at lunch and it's overrun with tourists all the time. Even at night.

Oh wow, love that second one.

I live about an hour west of DC, and have been countless times, but the sheer size of Lincoln never ceases to amaze me. You captured that well.

And awesome stitching skills, I'm jealous.

I think you're onto something awesome here. The detail level would make an amazing mural or huge print somewhere that wouldn't normally be possible.

However, the fact this was shot at night works against the overall effect of the photo.

I have a sense of déja vu ;)

Great pic !

Way too much dead space about the memorial. About 1 inch would make it just that much stronger of a composition.

I have to agree here... I love the second one, though.

On the first, just to the left of the stairs there's a little light invasion - I don't know what it is, kind of looks like an open maintenance door or something, maybe? Whatever, it's a little minor distraction from the overall impression.
But aside from that, I like. :) I can see the point about too much space above, but I personally kind of like it. Seems to change the feel or mood that the image presents.

You know, I just opened the link to the original site, and the sky looks much better there than it does here for some reason... You can actually see some clouds and stars on the original.

That's where the bathrooms and museum are located.

I think its awesome, but I gotta ask the reasoning for it. Are you planning on getting it printed building size? lol. Also, how large is that file on your computer?!?
