had an awesome time Yesterday with my friend! We went to Tyler State Park in Tyler, Texas to take some awesome photos of his Link cosplay!! The shield nad sword was all maid by him xp

Wow that's actually a really nice cosplay - the ears and everything. I like the second photo better. The lighting and composition is nicer and he doesn't get lost in the background. I also like the scarf. I might bring up the highlights a bit though. They seem a bit muddled.

I think f/1.8 was a little too large an aperture for these as there is very little DOF. especially on #2.
the grass in the foreground is in focus, but his legs are not. his sword and left arm is also OOF.
I would have gone with at least f/4 or f/5.6 here.

#2 was shot at f/1.8 and a 1/640.
you could have dropped the shutter speed down to 160th or so, and brought the aperture up to f/4 to get more DOF but still let in enough light for the shot.

Using f/1.8 the focus is soft too.

Most fast lenses benefit from being stopped down a couple of stops.
f/3.5 is 2 stops smaller lens aperture than f/1.8.

Two stops smaller aperture is usually the start of a lenses sharp focus sweet spot. Often focus sharpness will continue getting better up to about f/11 and then the sharpness starts failing off again due to the diffraction a small lens aperture causes.
