Instead of my usual setup where I use a trey of water, I placed some construction paper under a piece of picture frame glass and made a very thin layer of Xanthan gummed water. I used pages from "The Rainbow Fish and the Red Algae" book for a background, and in a few I used colored water for the drops them selves.

This post really should have been called "Dear Jazzie, you are not a human light meter" I really dropped the ball on the basics here. For some reason my flash meter doesn't really work well with this setup, so I usually guess and check my histogram. Today I eyeballed it and never checked my histogram. OOPS! These came out barely salvageable. Ive been in an artistic dead zone lately, so I am not surprised I suppose. Anyways, I liked the patterns that were showing up on the base. Very "meditative" I think.

C&C welcome and appreciated as usual.

If you produce these in an "artistic deadzone", I'd love to see what you produce when you're feeling creative! #2 and #6 are particular faves. Nice work!

Thanks!

:Giggle: well, water drops come pretty easy for me, so I was hoping it would help get my creative juices flowing. I've been out with my camera all week and haven't come home with a single shot. I was getting frustrated with all the wasted effort so I figured I would give something I am decent at a go. Spring needs to hurry up and come!
These are excellent! I really loke how they turned out!
Thank you!

i think you're onto something with #4.

Tried this earlier today for the first time, really enjoyed it but need more room as was struggling for space

To many items on the kitchen worktop and would like to do more water work as in burst balloons and splashes etc. I'm an absolute beginner as well having only had a camera for 3 weeks so am also trying to run before I can walk

ah, gotcha. ;-)
That's pretty good for only having a camera for three weeks. Enjoy!

Nice set, showing a lot of improvement. Ed

I really like #4 and I am starting to see a face in #5. The big drop is the nose - I have not taken any hallucinogens ------- in a very long time.
