That's either a very tall tree or the Statue of Liberty now resides in South Dakota. Maybe the contrast is off? I see no whites or blacks. Well, I know little of B&W photography. May the trees be free!

The statue is fair, though underexposed. Why is the tree in the frame?

The statue is obviously a small replica in a park somewhere. The tree is in frame a) to show that this isn't the real one, and perhaps as a bit of humor and b) as a form that echoes the statue.

The composition is pretty OK, it's not a bad concept at all. It does feel a little dark -- contrary to what a previous commenter said there's plenty of blacks, it's the higher tones that are missing. This feels like a cloudy day -- which might be just what it was. The light on the statue is relatively soft and appealing, but the tree winds up a flat mass of grey. The sky in the background is also dull and flat. I would try it again on a day with some cloudy interest in the sky, and somewhat harsher light to give the tree a little more life.

Thanks for the feedback. It is a small replica in a local park. The story is - Sioux Falls was originally gifted a wooden replica that was a model for the original. After some vandalism, that one was removed and eventually this bronze replica was put up.

I did struggle with color contrast as it was a clear blue sky and the statue has the blue/green patina to it. There just isn't a lot of color contrast in the photo to work with (b/w works better than color here). I did darken the photo to keep the sky from looking so blown out. Would I be better to keep it light. It was actually shot mid morning, so I certainly wasn't lacking light.

The tree was put in partly because I wanted the angle on the statue, but that put the tree in the shot. At first I thought it would be a good scale reference, but I am finding it more and more destracting.

Have to wait for some good clouds and time to re-shoot it.

All right, same shot, just tweaked in pp. I lightened it up a little, adjusted the shadows, and applied a green filter to tweak the tree a little.
