Little Man (Help/Advice through C&C Please!)

It looks like the light was hitting him from the side in the first one, so next time you might think about how you position him in relation to it, but it looks like getting more room light helped.

If the first one captures his personality his mom might like the photo; I don't know, she may not mind the drool, it's kind of how kids are at that age. I'm debating if I'd crop it into a more close up shot of just his head/face and upper chest; make copies if you try any cropping but I might try a version cropping a little ways below the patch pocket of his shirt, and then crop the left side of the photo at about the same place as the other side. That will be in more tight and it would be better instead with a little more space but it might work well enough.

Can you show her the photos and get back on here for some help editing? I don't do much of that, I guess being a film photographer I'm used to getting photos how I want them in camera so I do some cropping and brightening, adjusting contrast as needed and that's about it.

The last one makes me laugh, I wasn't expecting that! lol I would think his mom might like that one, it's sweet and funny. In that one too I think the onesie goes with the pattern in the quilt. For the others I might think about your backgrounds - maybe do some test shots with a teddy bear or something as a stand-in and see how different backgrounds look. In the one w/the blue blanket it having a geometric pattern, the way the blanket is tucked it makes the lines go every which way. I don't really think the angle of that one works, and a solid color or small overall pattern (not lines) might look better.

Actually your first photo that you posted with the blanket over his head is pretty nice, maybe with some adjustments you could make a nice copy of it for his mom.

Thanks for the input! Posing was difficult because he's just barely sitting (maybe only for a minute or two before falling over) and is still pretty wobbly. I also had some cute posing ideas to include mom in, but it was just me and baby. So, I had to capture him in more natural positions that were safe to do without another set of hand close by.

Both quilts are family heirlooms from his great grandma, so aside from whatever patterns they had it was pretty important that I used them. Although, I did try to match outfits as best I could. I totally see what you're saying about the blue and green plaid blanket. I had originally used a solid color light grey one (which he is laying on in the very first picture posted). But something about the white onsie, pale-ish skin, light grey blanket that was a little blah and not resonating well with me. We did have a quilt with a really small all over floral pattern that probably would have worked better. Wish I would have used that!
