Putting one out there ... this isn't edited much, just a little cloning out of a couple intrusive tree branches and a spot from something on the lens. (Which has since been cleaned.)

Nice scenic. It is a little underexposed - the sky is okay, but the rest is too dark. You should be able to see detail in the trees in images such as this. Also, presumably, the trees should be green and not "black".

Agrees with.....very nice scenic capture

Nice scene, but exif shows why this look so noisy:

Camera Maker: NIKON CORPORATION
Camera Model: NIKON D40
Image Date: 2010-07-23 16:30:42 (no TZ)
Focal Length: 20.0mm (35mm equivalent: 30mm)
Aperture: f/16.0
Exposure Time: 0.0010 s (1/1000)
ISO equiv: 1600

Exposure Bias: -0.67 EV
Metering Mode: Matrix
Exposure: program (Auto)
White Balance: Auto
Flash Fired: No
Orientation: Normal
Color Space: sRGB
GPS Coordinate: undefined, undefined
Software: Ver.1.10

The shot is underexposed with no shadow detail, but shooting at ISO 1600 with a 20mm lens to get 1/1000 shutter speed also left you with no dynamic range and a lot of noise.
Shooting at ISO 200 and f/8 or f/11 would have provided a fast enough shutter and you would have had a decent image with far less noise (if any).

Ah, thanks sleist & westernguy. :) That makes sense, couldn't quite put my finger on what was "missing".
