Looking for a camera strap with quick release connectors.

I'm looking for a comfortable camera strap with quick release connectors. I don't use a strap the majority of the time, but there are certainly times where it's nice to be able to let the camera hang and have my hands free. My major requirement is durable, secure quick release connectors.

I use this one its very comfortable even for heavier stuff. For the money its hard to beat. The little pockets are a bit awkward but they fit a spare battery and a memory card so I have learned to make use of them. Its been all over the world with me and I have never had any issues with it, its quite well made.

Strap, sure. QR, I have concerns. These answers from some forum:

"Anything quick release represents a point of inherent weakness - a breaking point.

Any QR system has a means of releasing it, be it a movement in a specific direction or clasping of 2 points on the clip itself. These can be activated by mistake when they come into contact with other clothing or your bag.

I have known quite a few people have theirs go unexpectedly on them and end up with a smashed camera. The intricate attachment of the strap makes it more secure."

I'm not sure to what degree of release you are looking for. There are some well-known systems that attach the QR plate to your strap, and are secure, but then you've still got the QR tripod plate fastened to your camera with a screw. Is that acceptable?

I think that is the kind that people have discovered will come loose anytime the lever is actuated. Personally I would rather use a snap attachment to a ring that is screwed onto eh bottom of my camera, but you can make that yourself with the purchase of a couple of bits of hardware.

Absolutely. I actually need a tripod too, as my current one is cheap junk. So I'll probably kill two birds with one stone, so to speak.

Try a padded neckstrap for a saxophone though it will clip on to one side only.
You'll have to find one that isn't too thick but they have ones that clip easily.

FYI, saxes are quite heavy, so even a camera with a large lens *should* be fine on one.
I actually tested this before but then I actually put both of my neckstrap ends on the left side of the camera - opposite the shooting side. Keeps the strap out of the way of my right hand when shooting which is what I was after.

I have the black rapid strap but don't use it much anymore.

Dave--you sound like a perfect candidate for the B&H Photo "big book" catalog. Seriously, sooooooo handy to have a 350-page book with thousands of products that you can leaf through, all organized by category. I would definitely call them an arrange to get one mailed out to you if they still have this available. It is like a phone book in thickness and size. REALLY handy to see what is available!
