Looking for a fast computer for editing?

the hard drive will be a bottleneck. Photo editing rigs have to have raid setups in order to run efficiently.. I cannot imagine running lightroom on this ZT rig..

That's good. I'm a MAC user and I LOVE my mac but thinking maybe down the road in getting a desktop to be able to edit my photos and what not, but I'm really unsure about going back to the PC world. I love MAC but the prices are just so high for what I need.

The things is from my experience of buying computers, my Mac's have held their value much better than all the other mindless land-fill infesting the shelves at the computer stores, and I like to upgrade quite frequently so for me Mac's are the cheaper alternative as I only lose a slight bit of my original outlay.

Not that I care about Mac vs PC....but if you feel a need to upgrade often, you are essentially relegating your previous model one step closer to being land-fill.

that is true, i feel that my money has gone farther when I spend it on a MAC, I just think it's all personal preference as to what you want. I personally would recommend a MAC to anyone but if someone decided a PC was better for them at that time, then hey it's okay. As long as you have a computer that you are happy with.

Yeah they suck, and dont give me the "its much more reliable bull****" and it has no virus and its faster for editing. its not true.

1400 $ buck for a macbook with a intelcore duo, 4 gig of memory 320 gig of hard drive and a cheap ass video card and a 13 inch screen? comom, you can get this crap for 350 dolllard at walllmart.

Hardware rate failure is the same as a pc and it cost double to replace them. why would you do that.

That's why there's reasonable people in this world of zealots. What about a "cheap" self built power rig with OS X on it? Best of both worlds with paying half the price of a similarly performing Mac Pro.

The bonus with this is that it cost me about $200 to upgrade from a computer that was 1 1/2 years old to a brand new computer. I have a 17" Dell notebook that I paid $1400 for. It was quite a power house when I bought it. After the first year, I'd be lucky to get $1000 for it.

That's wierd. I feel in no way that owning an Apple computer has shifted my sexual orientation away from heterosexual and I don't feel the need to profess to my father that I'm gay.

You know the best part about Apple vs. everything else flame wars? They tend to show a person's true maturity level.

You don't have crashes with the PC? I always found that PC when you run a ton of things at the same time(as you were saying you did) tend to end up crashing more...have you seen a big difference in that?

Not if you buy/build for your needs and do decent upkeep. I've had more crashes in OS X than I've had in Windows 7. Then again, I'm usually doing a bit more intense work than gaming and and server management in OS X than I am in W7.
