Looking For A New Camera

right now i have some kodak easyshare c530 but im looking for somthing better,ALOT better.
can you help me out with good (cheapish) camera for begginers?

What is your budget? If it's under $200, then thee Canon Powershot SD1000, if its under $300, the Canon Powershot SD870.

My advise is to get a manual 35mm camera and learn the 'science' of phototgraphy. That is, learn what shutter speeds do, learn what aperture settings do, understand the range of light. If you never progress beyond a point and shoot that does all the thinking for you, you will never have the knowledge to understand what went wrong, not understand difficult lighting conditions, not understand how to be creative.

whats cheapish to you? are up for used? are you looking to get into Dslr's? or just a upgraded point & shoot camera? what are you looking to do with the camera? Thing that you need to post. everyone here could name thousands of good cameras. Can you give more detail into what you want?
