Looking for C&C

Hi all, I'd really like your input on the pics below. Any and all comments are appreciated.

A little background...I just got my 7D and I've been playing around with it here and there. I have a general knowledge of photography basics but I'm looking to get better. Right now I'm using the 7D kit lens but I'll be purchasing new lenses once I get significantly better at taking pics.

the first one does nothing in terms of composition and there is a shadow that is going accross it ontop
the pictures are a bit soft in focus.
they are all slightly underexposed as well.
they are all pretty centered composed, which isn;t too pleasing.

Look up some rules of composition. Maybe head to a stock site and check out some of the flower shots they produce, which i find are often some of the best,

you could improve on #1 by simply pick a different background and angle, the white is not pleasing.

Thanks for the replies. You know I've been reading about composition, exposure, etc. for a while now but it's hard to put into practice. Back to the drawing board.

nothing better than trial and error. Might be a good idea to just take 1 or 2 rules and work with them for a bit. Its easy to get lost in the amount of info out there
