do like the feel and how the light drops of in the negative space, a lot better than the high key concept I was going for, the more I look at the image the more I see what you all mean...

Typically I associate High Key with light and airy, you still have shadow detail but less defined, less dark. Low Key is the opposite, dark and moody, with deep shadows. Here's a High Key I did for practice awhile back as a study of white on white, that illustrates the effect.

Good idea, will definitely give this a try, really nice soft shadows at different levels
