Looking into the future

Hey everyone -- I just recently went to the local photo store here in China to get a tripod (30 bucks around? It's 147 cm tall at its highest, and seemed decent -- good deal?) since my one at home was 30 years old and too heavy anyways

Anyhow, I happened to glance at all the lovely cameras being sold and wondered if I was ever going to buy another camera again, and if so .. when?

I think that I'm more concerned about first using the camera I have now - a Nikon Coolpix P90 - to its fullest capabilities before I buy another camera. I've had this camera for about 3 years now and have used it quite a bit, though during the school year I used my dad's film camera. I think the primary thing that bothers me is that it doesn't have changeable lenses - I'm stuck to zooming in and out with a 24X ZOOM :mrgreen:

What do you guys suggest? I'm probably not going to buy one for awhile, but just looking for some other opinions. College is about to start soon as well, so I'm not sure how much time I'll have to take pictures.

Patience Little Grasshopper... even photographers have to sleep! If you're not ready to buy a camera yet, then there's no point in asking for recommendations. The technology is changing so quickly that what we recommend today may not even be suitable for a doorstop when you're ready to buy. Wait, save your money, and when you are ready, then come back with a list of "Must haves" and most importantly, a budget.
