Looking To Buy First DSLR

So i managed to get into the ritz camera or wolf camera idr which it was.But i only had five minutes so i didnt get a whole lot info, the guy was telling me the nikon 5100 is a better camera than the canon t2i. It out performs the canon in video too, you can hear the motor winding while shooting video in the canon also. Theyre both the same price so he wasnt favoring the higher priced camera either. Im still on the hunt for which camera is for me, ease of use means nothing to me, i adapt to all electronics quickly lol

Learning electronics and photography are 2 totally different animals. When you finally get a camera, learn how to use the ISO, shutterspeed, and f/stop. The technical side to photography is the easy part.

The 5100 should be a tad more expensive. If they are both the same price, the difference might be in the glass. Here is a comparison which will show you the actual controls of both cameras (particularly the 2nd).

i think the t3i sold me with the 60 fps in 720.

so, i ended up buying the canon t3i with a tripod and a class 10 memory card at 16 gb. 2 filters and a EF-S 55-250mm f4-5.6 IS Telephoto Zoom Lens

Really? You haven't even mentioned wanting to shoot video in your original post. You're buying a camera that is designed primarily to shoot photos. In any case, as Ballistics has mentioned, learning to use the camera and learning photography are two very different things. Most beginners think that having high end equipment and knowing how to operate it efficiently is enough to take amazing photos and that couldn't be further from the truth. A good photographer will take great photos with a cheap P&S camera. As Ken Rockwell says "camera doesn't matter" (to a point).

I learned on a Nikon D60. The price is perfect, the controls are easy. I am now selling my D60 to get something more professional. But Either of the ones you are looking at are great.
