I love dark photos, but I have to agree...this one is just too dark to hold interest. Lots lost in the shadows.

A little Goya, a little Caravaggio. I like it, a lot. Very very painterly.

Being able to see what's going on it a thing, sure. Not being able to see what's going on it also a thing, and it works for me in this case. Evocative as anything, even without the title (which, I think, detracts from the image).

Title Doing Time, looks like solitary from the TV shows where they take all but your boxers and stick you in a cramped cell for a time.

I like it too. I don't think every detail needs to be seen. The shadows give the story - dark, lonely, scary.

It's just my personal opinion but sometimes images like these just don't work when viewed on a monitor, no matter how they're calibrated.

Needs to be seen in person, on a wall, properly lit.
