Macro Photos

In my work , I often need to shoot very up close pix of items ( shown here).
I have tried numerous cameras but have had trouble with settings and such.

Any suggestions on a camera ( under $400) that will take pix from 10' though .5" with clarity, in low light, inside, fluorescent.
I also need to down load into my computer via USB.
These shots were taken with a Canon SX 120....however, I had to shoot and reshoot numerous times until I hit the right combination.
I need something easy to set up and more reliable on shots taken like these. Also, I often have to enlarge the photos and crop out some particular areas on the computer so I need good pixel(?) strength.

Suggestions appreciated.

Pretty much any DSLR with a dedicated macro lens will do exactly what you want. You might need to up your budget a little (I'm thinking closer to the $600 range), but I'm sure that Mr. eBay will have what you want.

I'll show my ignorance in this and ask , what is DSLR and what does it do?

DSLR is an interchangeable lens camera, that works with a reflex mirror system inside.

WIth a DSLR camera, you can buy and use several different lenses, once you can change the lens for one that you need more.

- Nikon D5200 DSLR camera
- Sigma 105mm f/2.8 Macro lens
- Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Macro lens

Here's a suggestion for you, but your stated budget is really tight:
- Nikon D3200 DSLR camera (body only): ~ $298 - This is an entry level DSLR camera, with an excellent 24 MPix sensor.
- Nikkor 40mm f/2.8G AF-S macro lens: ~ $230 - This is an entry level dedicated macro lens for Nikon DSLR systems.

You'd be good with that, to start with, than you can upgrade later, if you feel the need to it.

the fluorescent light is an issue because of fluctuations in light output and color temperature.
You would be better off to add some inexpensive lights that you you can standardize on and an inexpensive tripod so you don't have to hand hold.
