We have a member here who's never used the product, and is telling three of us that it's useless, and that his method is the "way", and that our ideas are basically useless, dumb, and wrong.

You're right, it's not a big deal. But it's always good to explain to people who know all about a product that they don't own and have never used how said product might be of benefit. By explaining how a product works and how it can be used, the people who read the explanations about how to use the product can make up their own minds, based on actual experience and actual use of the product by its owners and users, as opposed to forming their opinions only on uninformed, baseless speculation.

I was actually talking about the non-scope method, Derrel. But I don't have any problem with either (that's silly).

I was saying that you can use the f/22, OOF, etc. method in the field, because there's no need to use a laptop with photoshop levels, since you don't do photoshop levels to your photos either. You can just snap the photo, look at the image on the LCD, clean, snap another photo and preview all in camera and vastly faster than trying to use some ridiculous laptop method.

...Or a scope. I'd probably actually lean slightly toward the "take a photo" method versus the scope, simply because what you intend to actually do is to take photos, so it gives you a better idea of what dirt actually matters. Like, if there's residue you can see with the scope but not in a photo, then you don't really need to spend time or any risk to clean the residue, but you might not know that you don't if only using a scope. But whatever, who cares.

Okay folks, let's relax a bit here. Any method that works is valid, regardless of what others think. Since it would appear that OPs question has been neatly answered, I'm going to end the bickering. Everyone go outside and take a picture. I don't care if your sensors are dusty!
