Majestic Nesting

I was out today to shoot some Coots( type of duck). Ran into a guy who told me of some nesting Great Blue Herons. This spot is very secluded and swampy. After a 30 min trek into the woods I found some 30 pairs of these birds nesting about 60 ft up. These birds stand over 4 ft tall and have a 6ft wing span. This is one of over 50 I took.

Any feedback would be welcome, as I was soaked from the thighs down.

Great shot Canoncan. Are these the birds ya see up on Taunton road, near Whites road. I have seen something like these there, but can not get close enough to get a pic. Love this photo though!!!!!

Thats exactly where they are, takes about half an hour to get near the nests, as it is all swamp.

One day I am gonna trek there. I go hiking at Seaton all the time, so maybe I should venture that way. Thanks for the info.

VERY NICE!!! I would think any publication having to do with birds or conservation would love to be able to print that pic!
