Manual white balance in mixed lighting conditions

Hi, I have a few questions on white balance and lens flare. Can someone please help me out.

-When you are in mixed lighting conditions and you want to have the real colours everywhere, how do you manually white balance then? And where should you place the white paper? I'm talking here about the situations where you can't put CTB or CTO to adjust the colours.

-Also when a light is much brighter than it is in reality but there are no rays or little circles across the image, is this also called lens flare? And how do you do to not have this? For example, your are filming the sun and it looks much brighter than it is in reality.

Place your paper anywhere under the mixed light to get the reading. An alternative would be to shoot in RAW which gives you the flexibility to set your white balance after in post processing.

I have never used one but I have heard that the Expodisc:

Will handle any weird lighting and white balance situation.

and i believe lens flare is those little circles of light that gets copied onto the image

of sorts you put it on your lens to set the white balance for a scene and then take it off and shoot.

-Shoot in RAW
-Do calibration exposures of both a white and neutral gray card in several different areas
-Adjust the WB in PP using those calibration points
