Why is he wearing such a terrible shirt? In pic one I'd fix the crop so that the bottom isn't cut off and also fix the background. It's a little washed and distracting. In pic two I'd clone out that horrid tattoo.

How do you know it was cropped off at the bottom and not shot like that originally.

If the person is willing to have that tattoo on their body why would they want it removed in a photo.

I personally have never been a fan of maternity photos at all, but at least you didn't have them making a heart with their hands on the pregnant belly.

Your first point... You're absolutely correct, but if it was a crop, it needs to be fixed. About that tattoo... It's an eyesore... End of story.

Thank you for your response. I do wish I could have been further back on that first. And for the tattoo, well.. I can't go photoshopping people's tattoos like that clearly.

I guess you're right about the tattoo...

To you maybe. Distaste for body art is not C & C, it's a personal decision. You don't take out a tat any more than you would shorten a nose or change hair color in a portrait. :rolls eyes:
As for the images themselves, the background is glaring, but the girl looks good. You might be able to run the burn tool around the background just to bring it down a notch.

Guess what... Tattoo sucks.. I'd take it out in one edit and leave it in in another edit... And present both. I have tattoos, but I don't have bad ones like that. It's my CC... That doesn't make it wrong. Stick to the picture, not the other posters please.

I like these. You've captured an excellent expression on her face in both (smug?). Hubby looks a tiny bit like an extra in #1 but then I've yet to see a husband in a maternity picture that didn't. (Why is that? are we trying to deny responsibility or are we just not sure if we are supposed to be there? ). I agree that the T shirt with the logo isn't a good idea but I've seen a lot worse and subjects often ignore suggestions about what's the best way to dress.

I didn't notice the tattoo and I'd never clone out a permanent feature like that unless I was specifically asked to. Zits, boils, etc, yes. Scars, tattoos and the like, never. It would be like me saying "I don't approve of the way you look, you don't meet my standards of acceptable appearance."

When the sun is shinning hard like that, still try your best to put the sun behind the subject, even in the shade. Why? You will show the shadow side of the tree so your background will not be as bright. Look at my sample below. I know I used flash on it, but really look at the tree. The tree is the shadow side where on your pictures, you are showing the bright side.

Seriously, dude? I disagree with your assessment. I have the right to say so. Stick to the picture, not the other posters, please.

Thank you. I always really like the shots you post. I'm also curious for how this was set up? I did take my speedlite but never used it since basically the first thing they told me was her hubby's eyes are usually closed in pics. Lol

Oh and fwiw the second the sun was to her back on the left.
