Maternity Photoshoot

Ok so Im doing a Maternity shoot for a friend of mine and then in a couple months a Newborn shoot for them. I have a Nikon D7000 with Nikons 18-55, Tamron 70-200 and Tamron 70-300. My question is what Lens should I use and what will be the best way to approach this. I have the shot ideas down but just not how to do the shot. I would say buying a new lens is possible but I just ordered a new Light set for the Newborn sitting so out of question. Thank you in Advanced

Any of them... all of them... it's really impossible to give you advice without a little more information on what type(s) of images you hope to capture.

It's going to depend, but a good way to research it would be to go to flickr and search maternity shoots and go look at the exif data to see what they used.

I would definitely use the light set and the 70-200.

Braineack the shoot is outdoors so im leaving the light set at home. Tirediron im doing some photos of the couple, the mom, some of the mom with a puppy they have, also trying some like them behind an umbrella and then their shoes and the babys shoes I guess is the best way to describe them without going into crazy detail.

I would take your 18-55 and 70-200. Get on Pinterest or Google and look at maternity ideas and poses. Find out what ideas she likes ahead of time. To this day, I still write down (in order) the shots I want in a session...although I usually end up tossing the list aside and just going with what feels natural. Little tip: don't plan for many backgrounds and poses... it will make you rush. Choose 3 or 4 poses/spots and take your time, focusing on getting your exposure and composition right. Better to have several sharp, awesome photos than many just okay/too dark or light/blurry photos. Have fun
