Minnewaska State Park Preserve

This weekend we went to Minnewaska State Park Preserve in NY. We scrambled to the mountain top and soon after we got caught in some rain. Eventually the raincloud passed and this is how it looked like. A little bonus: My dog Leto doing a Maddie...

I love Minnewaska. My boyfriend and I go there several times every summer with our mountain bikes and ride out to the far lake (Lake Awosting) and swim.

It was our first time there and I would love to come back during the summer to swim. Is there parking near the big lake? It is a far walk and I don't think my bike is made for gravel.

Unfortunately, there is no parking on that side of the park. The only way to Lake Awosting is by foot or bike. It is a long walk, but that water is so worth it! It's that pure, crisp mountain lake water. Lake Minnewaska (the one near the parking lots) is also pretty great, so there's nothing wrong with swimming, but it gets crowded and the swimming area isn't very big and those two things are deal breakers for me. That's why I trek out to Awosting - it's always less crowded! If you go during the week rather than a weekend, it'll be better.

I'd never heard of Maddie or her being on things. What a cutie
