Minolta Riva 100AF Loading Problem

Hi guys,

New to the photo forum!
I hope this is the right place for the thread...

I've been shooting for a number of years now and my 'fun/pub' camera has been a simple Minolta Riva AF35. That broke recently and I purchased a Minolta Riva 100AF off a friend of a friend.

The problem with the camera is the film does not automatically load when put in the camera.
When there is no film in, the cameras shutter fires and the automatic flash also fires.
But as soon as I put a roll in, nothing happens, no auto loading, no flash, nothing!

I've tried searching for the manual online and nothing. I have also spoken to the previous owner and supposedly they never had this issue.
Has anyone got any suggestions? I would really appreciate any help.

Still nothing when I cover the DX code up unfortunately...
The film is Delta 400. I never used Ilford film in the old Riva model I used. But I loaded various speed films in it and it never had a problem like this. So I'm not sure if its related to the DX code...
