ML-L3 Question

I was just wondering if the ML-L3 can be used from behind the camera? I'm pretty sure it just has to be in the line of sight from the front or sides. Actually I don't know where the infrared port is on the D80 (is it in the same place as the pre-flash?) so I'm wondering what the angles have to be?

I have one. Never noticed a problem wherever I wanted to use it, so I just tried it for you. Set a camera up on my wife's desk facing away from me, walked into the other room (about 25 feet away) and popped off 4 shots. The back of her chair was between the remote and the camera.

Worked fine with no line of sight.
