I just signed up this past week and I thought it was really nice this GK sent me a message. It states he doesn't do it often but is he just saying that or what?

So did you ever get a message from a GK when signing up?

That part is the one that makes me question... does he say that to make me feel good? but then I think about it and it doesn't do me or him any good if he just comments on my port.. so Idk. lol figured I'd share. I'll keep updates on how it works if i meet up with any MM peers!

Really... honestly... MM is no big deal.

Just about anyone can sign up. I've seen models sign up with what were clearly cell phone pics... and photographers who are still shooting on auto, haha.

You'll be one of the REALLY RARE lucky ones to get paying gigs out of it.

People are only on there to get something for free.

Models wanna get paid... photographers wanna get paid... no one wants to pay the other...

But if you're looking to find some models willing to shoot for free in exchange for free images... then yeah... it's a decent place to go. Just be prepared for A LOT of flakes as well.

Really... honestly... MM is no big deal.

Glad somebody said it. Sad but true. Lots of really bad photographers make it on to MM. You were lucky enough to stand out from the tsunami of fierce mediocrity that generally emanates from that website. Still something to be proud of.

I'm just looking to build my portfolio, so free shoots are cool for me. I want to be able to feel confident working with strangers. So, this could be a good stepping stone for me. Looking to get into senior portraits and portrait work in general with clients sometime next summer.. That's my ultimate goal.

Yup, that's the initial reason I signed up too. I wanted to work with people I didn't know and build my portfolio, so I could get used to working with strangers so I would eventually be prepared when working with actual clients. :sillysmi:
