I am a HUGE fan of natural lighting!! Great shots! It does something that you almost can not reproduce in a studio setting.

So am I. I absolutely agree with you, which is why I shoot almost exclusively with natural light. Many here argue against it, but having used OCF exclusively in the past and then switching to natural light, there is no persuading me back to OCF.

Its not like you have to choose one OR the other. Sheesh.
You are actually allowed to use natural light for some shoots and flash for others.

And Dan... Are you totally discounting those fantastic night shots you did in the woods with the OCF? Couldnt have done those otherwise, and i loved the dramatic lighting.

Dan, I admire the heck out of your ability to produce great exposures with ambient light, but I have to agree with Pix; it's not a 'one or the other' situation. First of all, all light is natural; a photon is a photon is a photon. The source might be man-made or natually occurring, but the actual light is identical. Photography is all about controlling and managing light, and whether you choose to shoot exclusively with ambient, exclusively in-studio with studio lighting, or a mixture of both, one is NOT better than the other.

Right... Like I was saying, in my experience I choose to use available light when I can (and I plan out my shoots so this happens about 100% of the time). I'm not trying to start a dialogue about the definition of natural light, I am simply stating my personal preference and that I am versed in both OCF and natural ambient, and prefer one more than the other.

Pixmedic, I'm not sure what photos you're talking about; I think perhaps you have me mixed up with another photographer.
