Moonscape Sunrise

Yesterday morning we had the most spectacularly epic sunrise I have ever seen, the sky lit up yellow, red, pink and orange in all directions. It lasted all of five minutes. It was a morning I will truly never forget. The glow that resulted was breathtaking. People were pulling along the side of the road just to take it in. I was out walking around at low tide along our coastline (Mississippi Coast) taking some photos and was lucky enough to capture a few images.

This is impressive. Makes me wish I had seen this with my own eyes, too! Lovely colours, very intense.
I also like how the ripples in the sand echo the cloud streaks in the sky. Would have been nice if the point where they "meet" had been inside the frame, too.

People were pulling along the side of the road just to take it in.

I did that once here in Iowa. Happened to look to the right and thought that looks like a pastel water color Grant Wood kind of thing. Unfortunately I did not have a camera with me. Your image is very good.

Did you up the saturation on this?

Love the sandscape, and while the sky is quite spectacular, so much of it tends to steal the glory of the sand. Perhaps if the sky was as in focus as the sand....but to me, this has to be more about one or the other, not both.

The big hole in the sand draws the viewers attention unnecessarily. If your intent was to show the beautiful colors and the sunset then it would have been more mesmerising if you had taken few steps forward and avoided the hole.

I like the hole.... it adds dimension to a flat scape, I also like the sand sky relationship....very nice image with great memories for you.

I like the hole also.. nice shot! I do think the saturation is a bit much... it is almost neon...

Thanks! I actually reduced saturation here. Yeah, when I say everything was glowing, it is hard to describe. Of course I have several without the sand hole, but I like it, just personal preference, and it wouldnt be a moonscape without the hole.
