When I got to my car on my way to work I saw some jumping spiders (at least that's what we call them) trying to cocoon my TransAm, so I whipped out the camera and took a few shots before relocating them to the grass. I was late for work so I took these in a hurry. Aside from shooting wide open I don't think they came out too bad. These were taken with my 55-300mm and 20mm ET.

The next two are me playing with my new flash after getting home from work at 2am. It was pitch black and I had to use a flashlight to compose the shots. I don't have any diffusers or anything yet so the light is a bit harsh.

Ugh, not sure why I looked in this thread with my Arachnophobia lol. Thanks for the heeby jeebies!

I prefer the first set on the windshield the best, composition and exposure are excellent imo.

How big was big brown exactly? He looks huge!

Is it on me, is it on me?? I feel like it's on me!!

Not sure why, but I don't like these that much. Of course, I hate spiders... But that's not it.
In the first 2, the subject is too small (for my taste) and not that sharp.
Kinda like the 3rd one, though.

I really like the 2nd and 4th photos. The only issues I have with them is the Depth of Field seems really shallow so you don't get to see more of the details in the body, only the head.

Thank you for all the positive comments. The brown was about 3 inches from front leg to back leg, he was a biggen'. I wish I had reduced my aperture but I didn't think of it at the time. I still get excited sometimes and forget to get all my ducks in a row before I start shooting, this is especially true if I'm in a hurry. I will learn eventually.
