Good writeup for beginners, Keith. I had to laugh at the following line:

The Nikon 18-200 mm also looks really good on your Nikon camera because it is somewhat bigger around than a 55-200 mm lens.

A minor nit -- I'm surprised you made no mention of the compromises inherent in the 18-200mm lenses. I realize you were simply pointing out popular lenses and not trying to critique them, but still...
