My 2nd Wedding

So here is my second wedding set...well not all of it but what I thought was the best of the bunch. I definitely tried to keep several things in mind that different people have suggested. Derrel, I tried to mind how much space I was leaving at the top and bottom of the frame. Tirediron, I tried to mind cutting off at awkward parts of a person's body. And KathyThorson, while editing I tried to keep skin tones consistent. Please any and all C&C is appreciated. This is my second wedding and trying to improve.

3 & 9 are a bit green...just noticed that. The wedding was during mid day and the sun was harsh. Also at the shooting location some kid was having a HUGE birthday party so that didn't help much. They're not the best and nothing super creative but I thought they were better than my first. Also found out it is extremely difficult to pose larger people

Juga, let's say the bride and groom want a large canvas above their fireplace of the 2 of them, which photo do you think is best?

I like that question Robin. I think I like number 9 the best but I have to make some adjustments because I am seeing it a bit green. I absolutely know they aren't the best which is why I am asking for advice and feedback. I want to improve and take the next steps. Another issue is that I haven't been able to find anyone to take me on as a second shooter yet but I will keep searching. I am moving next summer so I am hoping that I will have more luck in that department in my new area.

Which do you think is best and how can I improve? You left some good advice along with others on another thread of mine about posing larger people which was very helpful. That thread was a spawn of this wedding.

I find people don't typically print anything big of photos that close. #9 is probably going to be printed 5x7. All I am saying is that it is missing the full body shots with the pretty background. #15, the placement of the sun is not ideal for a posed photo. Always look at the light FIRST, then figure out the background SECOND. I don't know how many times I tell my clients that the light does not work when they want certain background.

I definitely picked up what you were putting down. I do have several full body shots that I like but just didn't post. Please don't take this as me making excuses just as an explanation of the situation butttttttt....there was a HUGE birthday party that was happening at the park that we decided on. There were 4-5 moon bounces, a petting zoo, blah blah blah so we had limitted space. When that happened I started to panic in my head because I didn't know how to improvise in that situation.

I worried about backgrounds first then lighting. I will take your advice moving forward...Thanks for chiming in Robin it is really appreciated!

I posted a few of the dress shots but everything else is new. I didn't add it to my previous thread because I was looking for input on those where as this is a set...if that makes any sense what so ever.

I like a lot of things about this set; I like the creativity in composition, and I like variety of images. I think you've captured some great memories, but I agree with Robin's inferrence that I don't see a 20x30 canvas in this set. What I don't like as much are a lot of the little details by which the skilled are separated from the unskilled. For instance, in #1, the little bit of OOF on the toe of the right (image left) shoe bothers me; stepping back and cropping would have allowed all of this to be in focus and not given the appearance of something 'not quite right'. In #5, you're shooting a [mostly] white dress against a white background and you have her out of frame on the left; why???? A contrasting background and a little 'breathing room on both sides would have really helped. In #11 the bride's maid on the far left has her head leaned so far over it looks like she's going to fall.

When posing fuller-figured clients (especially women with bare arms) NEVER shoot their arms "flat on"; the fact that she's pressing her arms to her sides is giving her the appearance of having arms that would make Charles Atlas proud! If you'd moved them both down about 3', you could have used the fence post to help camoflage her arms a little.

It may be a regional thing, or me showing my age, but I think a full length of the bride and one of the bride and groom are part of the 'basic package'.

Overall, I think this is a solid set; it's the small details that are keeping this from being a truly outstanding product.
