These are adorable. I wish the balloons weren't right behind him in the last, but thats me nitpicking. He is so darn cute. When is his birthday? My son turns 1 on May 5th. I'm hoping to take some of him next weekend.

My little guy is May 4th

Funny enough I told my husband to put the balloons behind him so they would act as a prop/backdrop....lol......but all the others like that one don't have them in it......maybe I needed some variety! Thanks so much for your comments! ♥

these all look soft to me. what was the setup for these? the light seems a little harsh in some, especially #3 and #7.
did you shoot these wide open, like at f/1.8 or so? I noticed in these a very shallow DOF. for instance, in #5, I can tell the baby's face was the focus point, but his right shoulder starts to go OOF, and his left shoulder is very OOF. Same issue with #4, and in #1 where the baby's face is the focus point, but his ear is OOF due to shallow DOF.
I would close up the aperture a few stops for most of these. the picture of the baby's foot is the only one I MIGHT go with that shallow a DOF, but even on that one maybe stop the lens down a little to get the picture a little sharper.

I like the poses, and i even like the balloon behind the baby's head.
are you using off camera flash or a window as a light source? if off camera flash, it needs to be diffused more, and possibly brought a little closer to the subject.
it looks like you had a fair amount of light in the room, so there no reason not to stop the lens down. you will get more of the baby in focus, and a sharper image, as most lenses are not their sharpest wide open.

what you have here is the ability to reshoot as much as you want so take advantage of that!

Thanks so much! All natural light from a 3 pain window to right of me and a 2pain left/straight back. Shot at 1.4.....creatively and style wise I have a hard time shooting outside of that as that is what I like but, yes I should think outside of that for clarity purposes! I really appreciate your critique! Thank you!
