To me it gives me the feeling of a child running free, exploring, looking down at something that seems to catch her interest.

To me, it's hard to say something is catching her interest here. We wear our emotions on the expressions on our face and in our eyes, not on the backs of our head. I agree that this photo is lacking to me. YMMV.

I guess having as many kids as I do, I "see expressions" in childrens body language without having to see their faces. It's all about what you as the viewer feel from the photo. Some will view more, some will view less. Needless to say, the "ideal" photo is one where the expressions, and the story and the feelings are all well portrayed, but that doesn't stop someone from seeing emotions and story where others don't.
As your signature says so aptly "Photography is more than a medium for factual communication of ideas. It is a creative art."

I have two children, and 12 nieces/nephews. I do not see expression or emotion in this photo. Would have been better for me if the entire body could have been in the shot. It would give it more "movement".

As a parent, that image is golden for me. Captures a moment that feels real and spontaneous. Light is excellent, and the pose is... that moment of balancing between walking and running, between a jump and a pirouette. The pose communicates to me the feeling. But, I've lived through three such periods (3 daughters) and five nephews and two neices, and when you have young ones, you recognize the moments.

Alexandre, print that shot (maybe with the car cloned out) big and mount it in your house. Update as more moments come up. Celebrate the joys of parenthood (there will be difficult days later, but that is still in the future).

As for the non-parents, you're right. The image is not very strong if you aren't fluent in kid-watch. And that's fine. It's not a judgement either way. But if this was my daughter... I'd print it big.
