My favorite lens.

I have about 30 lenses that I can use on my Panasonic G1 but this one is clearly my favorite. Not for all situations but for many as it is super sharp & will close focus. I used it here to shoot a hanging basket plant on the balcony near the closest focus distance, hand held. It is a totally manual lens that one has to set the aperture on it & then manual focus; not for the auto crowd.

Ron, I have a Lester Dine Macro lens... a 105mm F2 manual everything lens that was originally developed for dental photography... i got it on eBay for a couple of hundred bucks, and it is so incredibly sharp and color accurate that it embarrasses my far more expensive auto focus lenses. There are gems out there to be discovered for sure... And it feels great to twist that aperture ring once in a while...

It is from the former Soviet Union, a Helios 44-2 (58mm f2). It is one of the few lenses I have not tried on extension tubes so maybe today I will.
