Personally, I feel primes are far more of a professional lens than zooms, but that is just my oppinion.

on a side note, I had her out with a 400mm prime on her AE-1 yesterday :mrgreen:

I have several zoom lenses, one of them (80-200) is currently in her possession, but I still feel the prime offers up the greater quality expected from professionals. I'm considering giving her one of my 50mm 1.4s and picking up a 35mm 3.5 for her

It is an exxelent camera for learning on. Hers was immaculate when I bought it (Still had the QC sticker on it and unfaded) but I dropped it about a week ago and now I have to replace the top cosmedic peice.
