My First B&Ws

My youngest one was playing in the sprinkler in this 100 degree heat so i figured i'd get some pics. These are all done with a Nikon D3100 and a 55-200 zoom around midday. I know it isn't the best time to shoot but that's when she was in the sprinkler.

#1 seems to be just a bit too dark on her head.
#2 crop is awkward.
#3 I really like.

I like all 3. For me #2 has two issues. Her face is a little washed out and her left hand is cropped off. All in all, I kind'a enjoy these.

Agree with you guys especially on #2.

Unfortunatley the hand was cropped out in the original pic. Nothing to do there except compose better in the viewfinder.

How would i get the correct exposure on her face without everything else being underexposed? I was using evaluative metering. Would changing metering modes help when the sun is beaming on her face?

There are some real wizards here in digital post processing. Unfortunately I'm not one of them. I'm a film guy. Hopefully someone will be able to advise you. It wouldn't take much.

Number three seems to be the favorite. I do like it a lot, but I think I like #1 better.
As for the technical aspects, I'm a noobie, so I don't have anything to offer in that department, except to say I like all three of them.
