My First Fashion Style Portrait, C&C Plz

Hi all..

I took only about 7 photos of a friend of mine as she was passing by and I came up with real nice three. This is the best in my opinion.

The shoots were made with a flash off camera bouncing off the ceiling..

Worth to mention that I was using the kit lens, I am changing my view about it as I got some real good shoots lately with it..

I post processed to get this effect that was simular to an ad on a magazine next to me.. I hope I did a good job. Your C&C are most welcomed..

For a single-light shot, I think this worked well. It might be worth finding a reflector of some sort to bring some light intot he area upper right to reduce the deep shadow on her hair.

It seems to be a fairly flattering look at her. She looks nice. I agree about the hair shadow. MY main area of complaint though is the scarf or blouse at the bottom of the frame--that area is a bit brighter than I'd like,and it draws my eye away from her face. Perhaps the blouse or scarf could be made a bit darker and less prominent?

i put off commenting on this but i was going to say what derrel mentioned about the scarf being too prominent in the picture. i would also like to add that the crop seems too tight for me, especially her left shoulder area

I noticed the dark hair but didn't work well in post.. so I kept it as is

That it absolutely correct. Actaully I am the one who lightened it more. I thought for fashion style shots you need to make the cloth catch the eye also. Actually, I will be really greatful if someone can explain the difference of what should be looking for in Portrait, Beauty shots, Fashion etc... Or if I can learn more about that somewhere...

Thank you for the comment. I honestly don't know what is the best crop for portraits and I would like to improve in this fleid. If there is a rule or so.. I will also be grateful if you share.
