What's new

My first pictures

yes, thats what good looking weed should look like.

and this thread makes me giggle.

ive been working to hard and missing good threads like this lol.

what the @#% is that anyways?
I'm not a big into drugs, never done it, been around them, been around people who've done them, but I've never seen it in person still in this state?
Is that a bud or what? lol

Yes, Mango to be precise. Upon opening a jar of it, you'll smell a sweet mango undertone with the dank skunky aroma of the bud.

no disrespect, but that's definitely middies out here in Boulder....it would cost about $8/gram in a dispensary

No disrespect, but everyone from "the best place to get weed" (See: California, Maine, British Co., Colorado, etc) says that their weed is "the best". First of all, growing techniques for medical strains do not vary enough in regulated growing conditions. You're an idiot if you think so.

Your weed isn't better than any other weed geographically. Maybe you just have to pay more for it, and you do. Because you don't know what you're doing.

Good luck!

Sometimes this forum aggravates me. Hope this guy wasn't scared off to somewhere else where he can't get as good advice as he COULD get here. You've gotta be seriously tough to handle someone attacking your third (first asking for help) post. :meh:

There's good advice hidden here OP. Hope you find it and continue shooting.

U posted a pic of some outdoor fluffy schwag
Please don't lump Maine in with places like Cali and CO.....the point I was making is that the Mango u posted is crap and not photoworthy let alone worthy of being posted.
Moreover, u seem to know nothing about the medical community.....an oz of that dirt would run $100 here

Cheers

Oh that's right, you have 420 in your name and you know about everything marijuana related, just like every other 16 year old kid on the internet. Your inability to spell simple words correctly and your poor grammar tell me you're a real winner.

wait...is that skunk?...I hate the smell of skunk, it's nasty.
How can you tell what it is? isn't skunk just chemically treated? or is that boat?
I dunno...I grew up and stopped toking back in 1992 :sexywink: (when they threw my ass in rehab) :lmao:

I am going to go off-topic here and speak about the pictures for a minute.;)
I think he has done what I did when I first got hands on a friend's DSLR for a few mins....play with the DOF.
The first pic would be the kind of I would click most of the time but I would focus on the 3rd or 4th object in the row. That would mean the first object would be blurred and the farthest too. One or two objects in the middle would be in focus
The portrait (?) of the dog is blurred.
The others are OK but I would have liked to have had more details on the flower.
Please note that I am looking at these pics from a viewers point of view. I don't own a DSLR yet, just a Semi-compact non-SLR camera.

Regarding the question about the baby photos, I have some advice.
Open up all windows or take it outdoors, use slightly high shutter speed, try to avoid flash when clicking babies.
Babies have a short attention span so if you get a pose/ look that you want, click immediately. I could go on for hours about clicking babies. Maybe later. :)
Until then, keep clicking and experimenting with your DSLR.

were you high when you took these?
if not, i recommend you try it.
if you were, then i don't want to see your sober photos, lol jk.
umm, try brushing up on your focusing skills.
i suggest going on manual for a bit ( after reading the manual which will help! )
Not only are they all soft, but they're all flat as well.
This means they need more contrast but more importantly means, your exposures are off.
Try and get the right reading with your camera's meter.

I just wanna say that some of you guys can be really cruel to new posters. The OP is looking for guidance and wants to take professional looking shots. You don't go and spend hundreds on a dslr to take pics of your friends at a club, you do it to get better quality photographs of a professional looking nature. Obviously its not gonna happen straight away. I think the OP is thinking outside the box and good for him. Keep it up.

As for the definition of what is a professional- as the dictionary said, getting paid is just ONE aspect of it. If your unemployed do you become an amateur again? Having a qualification or experience makes you a professional. Try applying for a passport and it will list which professionals can counter-sign. Doesn't say they have to be paid! Being a semi professional means not doing it professionally. They still get paid afterall so by your definition they should be pro, correct? Or are you gonna say the level of pay makes one a professional.

I have a friend who gets paid for his photos and he is a beginner. I wouldn't call him professional cause he gets paid.

Keep up the good work OP

I do think a professional is someone who gets paid to do what they do. That doesn't really matter, though. It's clear that like most people who have never had a DSLR or any photog experience, that he thought big camera with interchangeable lenses means pro photo's. That's not a bad thing, it's a very normal thing. There are regular threads about people getting asked if they're professional because of the camera they have. It was blown out of proportion and the kid asked for some help. Pro arguments are dumb. I have my opinion on it, and others have theirs. It's an art field so it's going to be interpreted different. It's not as cookie cutter as football.

OP: You need to read your camera manual and learn what you can from it. Google and Youtube beginning photography and try to sponge up as much as you can and practice the whole time. You will learn what works and what doesn't. Look into the rules of composition. Just look for as much as you can and take as much as you can from it.
